Welcome to The Queen's Games, a future/AU Tortallan based forum headed by a Matriarchal Monarchy in the Queendom of Kalim. Gaining independence little more than a century ago, the Queen has been pushing for contact with Tortall and other lands to the east in the past decade. With the victor of the Games to win the Crown Princess's hand decided, the Darshani Empire has set its eyes on conquering Kalim and regaining power through force.
That popping sound you hear is the cbox! It's at the bottom of the page. Why not pop in and say hi?
Coming down from its January cold spike, the weather creeps up unusually warm for February, turning what would normally be frozen ground and light snows into a slushy wet mix throughout the country. This creates poor travel conditions throughout the country: avalanches in the north and roads so muddy they threaten single mounts and caravans alike.
Rosalyn Flygg
New member Rozzy has taken a dive straight into QG's deep end, landing a powerful character in perhaps the most complex niche - the rook council - and she is owning it. Rosalyn is an alluring and dangerous woman - cougar, hex mage, councilwoman, and to add a layer of complexity, mother. We look forward to seeing if her cool demeanor cracks in the face of the storm brewing in Kalim's underworld.
Baldassare Ulande
While it's nearly Gwyn's hallmark to play gloriously off-the-wall characters, Dassa's disturbed past and somewhat barbaric heritage make him downright ballsy. Playing a necromancer is a risky move, in and out of character. Though he runs the risk of being ostracized and shunned for the nasty nature of his work, with the body count rising in Havran, those who need an advantage ignore him to their peril.

So you want to join as a canon? Fantastic! You may have as many canons as you want, but make sure that you’re playing an at least semi-equal amount of guys and girls. Original characters are more than welcome as well, just be sure you read all of the directions and rules and brush up on the ‘verse before you post your application. It cuts down on some of the time spent fixing it to get you out there and rping faster!
To apply for a canon, please fill out the form below and post it here. You then have three days from the time the character is reserved to post your application or the character will go back on the market.
Please note that nearly all the PBs are only suggested. Do try to keep a family resemblance if the character has family played, though, please! In addition, many of the names are changeable as well. If you wish to change a name or PB, then just ask!
Note: if you have already posted an application for a canon character, that counts as a reservation, and you don't have to worry about anyone taking it!

• Prince Nelis of Richilde – 24 (b. 578 H.E.) A very scholarly and politically aware young man, Nelis's parents worried that he would be too concerned with his studies to make a good husband to the Yamani princess, but he has developed a surprising "family man" complex, which has only intensified as his daughter has grown. He is quite canny and involved in running Kalim, as even though he has no official authority, he has been growing in his advisor capabilities. PBs: Kevin Zegers, Drew Fuller, Adam Brody
• Princess __________ of Richilde – 21 (b. 581 H.E.)wife to Prince Nelis. Originally from the Yamani Isles, she was raised to be a proper Yamani princess and has found the matriarchal society and outspoken women to be something of a shock. The Queen and her husband have been encouraging her to look more into political matters, however, in hopes that she will begin to come into her own. She has given the queendom one daughter, who is 2. PBs: Hikaru Utada, Haruka Ayase, Erika Toda
• Prince Lerant of Richilde – 22 (b. 580 H.E.), Prince of the Queendom of Kalim. Lerant married a princess of the Copper Isles a year ago. The two are still trying to get used to each other, decide who "wears the pants" in the relationship, per se. The two are not spiteful, simply very competitive, and Lerant is determined to come out on top. PBs: Jared Padelacki, Christopher Egan, Jeremy Sumpter
• Princess __________ of Richilde – 17 (b. 585 H.E.), the new wife of the queendom’s second prince. She is originally from the Copper Isles, which is not a matriarchy but allows women to inherit if a family has no sons. As she was the heir to the throne until the birth of her younger brother five years ago, she is something of a firecracker and has found the Matriarchy to be, well, awesome. She is fully convinced that anything Lerant does she can do better, so the two are constantly in "friendly" competition over just about anything. PBs: Chanel Farrell, Alexis Jordan, Summer Glau
• Prince Kessler of Richilde – 19 (b. 583 H.E.) The youngest prince of Kalim has only recently earned his shield after spending three years defending the borders against Darshani raiders. His time there has forged him from a somewhat pampered prince into a finely honed warrior of the queendom, opening his eyes to the direness of their situation and spurring him in favor of action. He is the closest sibling to the Crown Princess Eleni in both age and affection. While this closeness has always made him a dear friend and supporter to Eleni it has also put him in her shadow in terms of marriage prospects and negotiations. However, now that the Games are over, the spotlight begins to fall on Kessler. PBs: Bradley James, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Dylan O'Brien

• Empress Priya Kumari – 16 (b. 586 H.E.), Figurehead Empress of Rashana. Raised under the heavy thumb of Darshani stewards, Empress Priya has always been taught that she is to be unquestioningly grateful to the Darshani for its generosity and mercy to her people, to be a delicate and peaceful lady and in this way to bring honor to her people. This, combined with the fear she harbors from seeing her mother murdered at such a young age, has kept her extremely demure and sheltered, with no hand in her country's rule besides the occasional ceremonial role in festivals. She is expected to be married off to one of the Darshani princes within a few years now that she has come of age. She is less than thrilled with this prospect and has been considering alternatives, even at the expense of disobeying the Darshani. PBs: Tamanna Bhatia, Lakshmi Rai, Anushka Sharma

• _____________ of House Sunspear – Late 40s to 50s Leader of the Eversworn and the temporary figurehead of the Khirosian government-in-exile, Lord Sunspear hopes for nothing more than to take back his country from the Darshani and regain his House. Having been in negotiations with Kalim off and on for the past five years, the Queen is still unwilling to risk an all-out war with the Empire by throwing full support behind them, thus leading to tensions between the Kalimi and the Eversworn. He is married with four children: two sons and two daughters, the youngest of which has never known a free Khiros. While he pushes his sons to be standing examples of strong Khirosian men, he has a tendency to coddle his daughters in an effort to keep them safe from their own harsh reality. While he still succeeds with his youngest girl, his daughter Elaina has become a strong young woman without his permission, apparently while he wasn't looking. PBs: Aaron Eckhart, Kenneth Branagh, Jeffery Dean Morgan

• Duchess __________ of Akhtil – 45 (b. 557 H.E.) The Duchess of Akhtil has, despite bearing five sons, been unable to produce an heiress. Her husband has been slowly poisoning her over the years, though she has managed to hold onto life for an impressively long amount of time. PBs : Uma Thurman, Keri Russell, Nicollette Sheridan
• Duke ________ of Akhtil – 50 (b. 552 H. E.), a power hungry man that will do anything to get his family back in power and on the throne of Kalim. He despises the Queen and her family and though he presents a loyal and loving front at court, he is planning on using the Petran faction and perhaps other means at his disposal to overthrow the Queen. PBs: Jeremy Irons, Al Pacino, Robert De Niro
• Sir Jeran of Akhtil – 22 (b. 580 H.E.) The second son of the Duke, Jeran is one of the nicer and (arguably) the most sane member of the Akhtils, though he does have his vices (like gambling). He is convinced that his older brother can do no wrong and somewhat oblivious to both the negative goings-on among the Akhtils and their whispered reputation at court. PBs: Travis Caldwell, Thore Scholermann, Paul Walker

• The White Rook of Richilde – Mid 40s to 50s. He is the second son of one of Kalim's very minor noble families. Still highly educated, he is more on par with well-to-do merchants than the nobility. Part of the original uprising that overthrew the last King, he has held the post for the past fourteen years. He does, however, feel rather jilted with the limits imposed on him by the council, and is beginning to think that perhaps Richilde might be better off without them--especially after several years of being denied a spot. PBs: Pierce Brosnan, Ralph Fiennes, Vladimir Putin
• Amarilis Villera – 23-28. Relatively new blood to the Richilde Rooks, she has nevertheless shown an incredible aptitude for her work underneath the Gold. Though she had been aiming for a council position, the Council (rather by surprise) promoted her to the head Gold Rook of Richilde in November because of her charisma and capable presence. What they don't know, however, is that she is a mole from the River Cities, working deep undercover, and part of a faction to ensure that the Richilde Council does not get a foothold among the Cities. PBs: Eliza Dushku, Adrianne Palicki, Emma Stone

• Danel Shafat – 30s to 40s. The grandson of a notoriously batty Carthaki scholar who had some crazy theory about a western continent more than fifty years ago, Danel Shafat was so enthusiastic about being picked for the professor exchange that he had his office packed and catalogued before the decision was ever reached - just in case! Though he specializes in geological magic, he is also teaching courses in Old Thak and the use of gemstones in enchantments. He is so excited to be integrated into the exotic Kalimi culture that he often comes across as a bumbling tourist, and while he certainly has the intellectual prowess to command his students' respect, he is far more interested in also being their friend - the kind of friend who constantly asks about your well being, makes jokes that aren't funny, uses inappropriate or inaccurate slang, and tells you to write your mother more often. People habitually mispronounce his name (saying DAN-el instead of dan-ELL), but he is so thrilled with being "Kalimi-fied" that the nickname "Danny" threatens to send him into ecstatic fits. PBs: Chiwetel Ejiofor, Taye Diggs, Don Cheadle
• Osozi Makena – 28 to 30s. Having only just received her teaching credentials a year ago, Osozi is still getting her feet wet with this whole "being in charge" thing. She tries very hard to maintain a sense of professionalism in dealing with her students, but is so passionate about a wide range of subjects that she can be easily derailed into talking about them for the duration of an entire class period, only to become quite embarrassed and frustrated with herself afterwards. Among her peers, she is friendly and eager to impress, finding that the freedom in Kalim is letting her really spread her wings away from the conservative Carthaki government. She specializes in healing - and is brilliant at it - but also teaches classes in light casting and illusion. PBs: Genevieve Nnaji, Liya Kebede, Yasmin Warsame
• Ambassadors – 25-50, Ambassadors can be married, single or engaged. The PB is up to you as is whether or not s/he has children.
• _____ – Late 30s to 50s, Head of the Petran Faction.
• _____ – Late 20s to 50s, Spymaster. Works closely with the Petrans and possibly even with some Rooks. Received his job in 598 H.E., when the former spymaster retired.
